Chief Records Management Officer - Verna Penn Moll

With over 26 years as a senior officer in the public service, Mrs. Moll has served in various capacities including that of Chief Librarian from 1965 to 1986. She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Librarians and Information Professionals and she has had postgraduate training in Archives and Records Management. She developed a thesis on Archives: A Resource for National Development in a Microstate with special reference to the Virgin Islands (UK), 1982.

Mrs. Moll is responsible for the planning and administration of the Government's records management programme which includes the coordination of all activities connected with the life cycle of public records. This embraces the development and implementation of active physical or electronic filing systems; the preservation and storage of inactive records, and other aspects of records and information management.

Government Archivist – Christopher Varlack

As Government Archivist, Mr. Varlack’s responsibilities include working with the Chief Records Management Officer to examine, appraise, select and retain public records that merit transfer to the National Archives. He is also responsible for outreach and other special projects including lecturing at Government training courses, schools and colleges and conducting oral interviews to document local history.

With a BA in English Education from the University of the Virgin Islands and an MA in Communication (Cinema/Television emphasis) from Regent University in Virginia, Mr. Varlack has worked at the Companies Registry (now the Registry for Corporate Affairs) and the BVI High School. His professional acumen includes teaching at secondary and tertiary levels as well as for private organizations. Having produced several short documentaries and other films, he has also produced “The Voice of Revival”, a nationally and internationally broadcast program seen on major US and European cable and satellite networks, as well as worldwide on the internet.


Senior Executive Officer - Jennifer Flemming Henry

Mrs. Henry, who holds an Associates degree in Business (Accounts concentration) from the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College, started with the Archives Unit as a Clerical officer in 2004. Prior to that, she was an Accounts Officer in the Deputy Governor's Office and has completed training in Conservation Management.
